My knitted socks.

Yes! I finished my first pair of socks. They're a little big and baggy on me so I had Paul try them on and they fit him beautifully...although I don't expect him to wear them.

Paul turned out to be a really good sock model! Now I'm knitting Logan a Minion hat. Even though it will be for Christmas, I feel I owe him one. Last year I was knitting for my sister, Jennifer, Jessie and Bev and I never got around to knitting my favorite little people anything!! So, I know it's only March but I'm getting a head start. I'm going to knit Emmy a beautiful ear warmer with flowers on it.

So, I'm off for now and as always...

A Smashing good time!

A few years ago I discovered Smash Books. I immediately fell in love but at the same time I was so caught up in my scrapbooks, babysitting, and other things I didn't actually play with the book I bought. I landed up giving it to my sister along with some items for her to get started.

In the meantime, I've been an avid journaler for years. I probably have 5 filled journals. Ever since I watched "The English Patient", I was hooked. But then, I discovered an easy way to not only record the everyday life stuff with pen, but to add smidgets too! Ticket stubs, pictures, letters, memorabilia..you name it! As I was writing in my journal one evening, the thought of a Smash Book came to my mind again.

I went and purchased a Smash Book.

I then covered it with this beautiful patterned paper I'd been hoarding forever, just waiting for the perfect use for it.

Years ago I bought a beautiful box from Joann's to keep my memorabilia in. I pulled that box out and went through it. I Discovered I had kept quite a few tickets from Indians Games so I thought I'd create a neat little place to keep them instead of inside the box.

I then made a page about our recent trip to NY.

So, there you have it. So far I'm having a blast.

Pergola and Downton Abbey

I got up early today (5:30) after Kitty was in my face meowing. Normally during the week I'd fight like crazy to go back to sleep but being the weekend..GET UP! GET GOING! HAVE FUN!

So, I'm going to work on my smash book and Project Life today. Paul's excited that Harold's done with the drywall in basement so he's putting the primer on the walls (I detest painting). I will help him though. Eventually. Not today though.

Yesterday the contractors came over who are putting a pergola in our backyard. I'm soooo excited!! We had them come out last summer and after much planning etc. they called and were ready to get started in November!! I said whoa! I didn't want it put up in the fall all ready for winter! So, we asked them to hold off until spring.

They cut the holes for the poles. 6 of them. Paul and I are so impressed with the way the previous owners had put concrete under the brick patio. Yesterday they had some serious digging to do.

I'm sad, mad and grieving after finding out my favorite tv show is only going to air for one more season!

I won't let that ruin my Saturday though, no sirree!

I'm Knitting Socks and Making Cards!

My first pair of socks!! Although they aren't done yet, I was just too excited to wait any longer to try them on. I think they might be a bit big but I'll see after they're washed. If so, Paul said he'll wear them. I thought that was sweet of him.

I used Patons Kroy Sock yarn...
Obviously the pic is from online.

For a couple of very special friends who lost a loved one this past week..

I signed up for an online photography class. It's really a camera class. Hopefully by the time Paul and I travel to England this summer, my camera will no longer be in auto mode.

Basement Walls!

It's a strange kind of day. My brother passed away 2 years ago today. I'll be fine (I keep telling myself). And, today is my sister in law, Barb's birthday. That's a good thing and a good reason to celebrate today!
It's chilly and gloomy but I'm really hoping the sun comes..really hoping.

In the meantime, I have some pictures of the walls which are now put up in the basement. Harold is down there now, patching the nail holes before drywall compound hits the walls :).

The room behind this wall is going to be the exercise room. I can't wait for this room to be done!!
Exercise room is on the left, the wall straight ahead with the pipe coming out is going to be the wet bar. Through the doorway on the left of that wall is a utility closet behind the wall and then a bathroom behind that.

Here's the shower.
This is the main area to the right when you come down the stairs. The angled wall to the left where the ladder is will have a tv.
So, that's all for today. As always...
