My birthday and this week...

I am lucky! I am blessed! I am...SPOILED! I think I may have forgotten to post about the FABULOUS birthday gifts I got back in June.

It was like Christmas! I got a JBL iPhone portable speaker system, a digital photo frame, bamboo plant, Life is Good shirt, Archiver's GC, a Chamilia bead, and Photoshop Elements 10. Wow what a fun birthday filled with toys!

Now, on to what's been happening this week. A few months ago I joined the Cleveland Photographic Society's Scavenger hunt. It's pretty fun! They have posted online 125 pictures of various tid-bits around downtown Cleveland. I talked Paul into venturing out last Sunday and exploring this city that is just about 20 miles from our house. Something we have never done before. It was a hot day for sure and I didn't realize that NOTHING is open so no cool drinks for us, but it turned out to be very productive. We managed to get 10 pictures. It wasn't easy but it sure was fun. Here's a few we captured that day...

This past week Paul and I were going to go camping but we've decided that camping isn't for us. At least the camper isn't. We found it to be much more of a hassle than relaxing. So, I cancelled our campsite and we wracked our brains trying to come up with something to do that was comparable $ wise. So, we decided to use our house as a base and venture out heading west. It was tiring just driving and I didn't see much that I hadn't already seen. We stopped at the Thomas Edison birthplace and took a tour.

Then, Wednesday we took Wendy to Amish Country since she'd never been and we stopped at different little shops.

Something that I've always wanted to do was stop and take pictures of the Mail Pouch barns around Ohio. I've seen them for the past 26 years but I've never stopped to get a picture. Well, I told Paul if I saw any, we're stopping!! Paul actually loves a hunt so he was on the lookout the whole time we were driving to and from Amish Country.
The sign on this one looks pretty new.

and this one is exactly what I was looking for. Isn't it a beauty?

Our first Wine Festival!!

Wow did we have fun! We went to Avon Lake's very 1st Wine Festival. Joe & Di came with us and we really had a nice time!! I got a little looped, but that's okay. For $20 you get a wine glass...
and 10 tickets to go to the different tents set up and taste local wines. To be honest, it's about time they had something like this since we have about 3 or 4 wineries in our little town. We're known for grapes! I should have taken more pictures and it was nice of Joe to grab some young kid and hand him my iPhone. Unfortunately we had Lake Erie and the sunset behind us but...oh well.

Our beautiful Lake Erie sunset
I think this is something we could do every year. I don't think they expected the turnout they got. They only had 5 wineries set up and the lines were really long. They did have a few eateries where you could purchase some cheese and crackers and even sandwiches! Great fun!

This and That...

We celebrated Steve and Jessie's birthdays on Sunday. It was a nice day over at Eric & Jessie's condo. We barbecued and had cake and ice cream. Nice time!! I wish I had gotten a better picture of them blowing out the candles though.

And now on to other tid-bits...

I've been trying to catch up on my Project Life Album. Ever since moving my scrap room upstairs, I've been behind. So, here's some more pages...

and now April since I see I posted March a while ago. Not sure how that happened LOL.

Of course my scanner has issues with anything larger than 8.5x12 and these pages with the photo sleeves are slightly bigger than 12x12 so it hic-cups and cuts off the top and bottom at times! Ugh. I'm working on May's PL and will post in a couple of days.
I went to Peggy's this afternoon and she's really confused lately. I had told her this past winter that as soon as the weather got nicer, I'd take her to see her mother's grave. So, I thought today would be a good day but when I called her and mentioned it she said she really wanted to go with her mom :( So, I figured she maybe meant she wanted to go with her sister Diane. I went over to her place and we scrapped a page about Joe & Di's new puppy Fender.

He's so flippin' cute!!

It's sweltering!

Yep, July 4th was a hot one! Record heat all over the country. We here in N.E. Ohio had highs in the low 90's. We had a BBQ in the back yard and Paul went around with a little spray bottle a squirted everyone's arms, legs and necks. I kept inviting everyone inside in the cool air conditioning but most stayed outside. Every once in a while someone would pop in just to cool off.
